Expiration?

Photo 16.jpg

Finally refilled my favorite snack. Just not sure what date is the year on the bag. 08 01 or 04? Let's hope it's at least 04. :-)

Food | Angele

Macaroni.jpg

If you're ever around Napa Valley area in California. I'd recommend trying Angele, a French restaurant which was recommended to us by a helpful person at the Visitor Information building. The pic above was just a side, but wow was it good. I didn't even expect to like this place, but I thought it was good and the pricing wasn't too extravagant.

Food | Would you try it?

Thai Town Restaurant making the grade!

I figure most places in Thailand would probably get a B or lower if they were actually inspected for a Food Facility Rating, but just seeing what this place has makes me shudder to think why they got such a low rating. In fact, I think it's the only C I've ever seen before. Maybe the rats are actually serving the food. The best part was that the restaurant was packed! Maybe they didn't see the sign?

Food | No Snacks!

Diet.png

I've come to the conclusion that I need to eat better and that I'm fat (for me). So I'm starting a no snack diet today for at least 2 weeks, but hopefully longer. I'm going to only eat fruits when I feel the urge to snack. Along with this, I'll also only drink water, juice and milk. No soda, alcohol or coffee. I'm currently 142 lbs with 21% body fat. We'll see how it goes! I'm sure it'll be tough at times but I think this will help me get on the right track to at least eating better.

Sushi Itto

Sushi Itto Downtown San Diego

This was taken at the downtown San Diego location across from Horton Plaza. I've eaten at the Hillcrest location about 3 years ago and I did not like it at all. I wonder if I should give it another chance?

Food | Yan Yan

Yan Yan and False Advertising

I first started eating these snacks since I was a teenager and ever since then I don't really remember it having any sesame seeds on them (as this site also notices). Could I take them to court and sue? It'd be nice to win a settlement of a years supply of Yan Yan! For those of you who have never tried this, it's similar to Twix but better, I think, because it doesn't have caramel. Which in US candy bars is way over used!

Royal Mills Iced Coffee

Royal Mills Iced Coffee

I've decided to try different kinds of canned coffee (to add a little variety into my office drinking habits) and I thought I'd start with Royal Mills Iced Coffee. Given to me by a Hawaiian co-worker (thanks, Lauren!) after she saw me drinking UCC brand coffee. I'd have to say that this brand is just okay. It's a little too sweet for my taste and watery at the same time, if that makes sense. It needs more of a "coffee roast" flavor. Overall, I'd give this canned coffee drink a 7 out of 10.

Restaurant Review | Pho Van!

I think this was #48 on the menu

This place, from what I remember, had pretty good vietnamese food and that's saying a lot because I'm not a big fan of vietnamese food. Ate lunch there today and the pork chop was sooo bland. But the baked egg didn't disappoint as usual and the shrimp thing (arrgh, I can't remember exactly what it was called) was really good. Click on the pic to see the notes of what's what. Thanks for the help, Sunee!

Kakidane Arare Part 2

KakidaneArareCrackSeedCenter.png

My search for my favorite Japanese rice cracker Kakidane Arare continues. The one I ordered came in but doesn't live up to the one I previously blogged about. It's not as spicy as I would like it. It's good, but still doesn't compare to the other one. The search goes on...

Kakidane Arare, where are you?!?

KakidaneArare.png

My most favorite of snacks when I was growing up in Guam is now a rare item. I can't find anywhere to order it online and my friends in Guam say there's a shortage of it. Unbelievable, considering how good I think the snack is. It seems like it'd be easy to find. Even eBay doesn't have it listed. Oh well, the search continues!

Fancy Jack in the Box

I guess Jack in the Box is trying to re-invent their image. A friend of mine tells me even the menu is different. I'll have to swing by and try it one of these days.

Tacos El Gordo

If you want to eat real "TJ Style" mexican tacos without making a trip past the border this is THE place to go. They make their own corn tortillas fresh on the spot and the food is more authentic than other so called Mexican restaurants. I'd suggest the asada tacos for a good start. They have 2 locations that I know of at: 3265 Palm Avenue, San Diego, CA 92154 and at 711 Oliver Avenue, San Diego, CA 92109. I've only been to the Palm Avenue location and once you try it, other mexican tacos will be bland in comparison to Tacos El Gordo.
