Michael Richards

My first reaction to seeing the video of Michael Richards go on a racist tirade was shock and disappointment. I was a fan of his character on Seinfeld and I just could not believe how he could act like that. It seems like he either was drunk or drugged up. When I watched it again, I found it interesting that they did not show what led to his tirade, which makes it seem even worse than it already was. As it turns out, Jerry Seinfeld was a guest on Letterman last night and Michael Richards was there, via satellite, to apologize for what had happened. It's amazing that some people (the few audience members who were laughing) have no sense of respect for a person who's obviously extremely embarrassed and trying to apologize. I still think this will make me look differently at Michael Richards as a person, but at the same time if I were to see Seinfeld re-runs on TV, I'd still like his character regardless of what happened. The guy apologized and seems sincerely distraught over what he did. It's time to move on and forgive him for being extremely stupid. No need to crucify the guy for something he's already apologized for.

A Hero in my book

He may say he's not a hero, but he's close enough to being one I'd say. Big thumbs up to him and Staff Sergeant David Karnes. What a great story.

My 2004 Review...

Well, it seems that this year was by far the quickest. So much has happened and I honestly would like to have had accomplished more, as usual. My laziness tends to get the best of me (which explains the lack of blog entries lately) and I need to keep working to change that. Anyway, hopefully 2005 will have less traumatic events worldwide and close to home. In any case, I hope everyone had a great 2004 and here's hoping you'll have an even better 2005. Let's not get too crazy like this poor dog did and be safe out there! Happy New Year everyone!

Tsunami Relief Effort
Probably one of the "easiest" ways to donate to the American Red Cross is via Amazon's Honor System. I live pretty much paycheck to paycheck, so if I'm able to donate something, you should be able too.
American Red Cross Disaster Relief
At least 120,000 people have lost their lives in East Africa and South Asia in the aftermath of the earthquake and resulting tsunamis on December 26. Thousands of people in Sri Lanka, India, Thailand, and Indonesia are still missing; many others have lost their homes and livelihoods. Sri Lanka and Indonesia suffered the highest number of deaths, but India, East Africa, Seychelles, Maldives, and Thailand were all affected by the tsunami waves, which reached as high as 20 feet. Aid workers and volunteers are focused on stopping the spread of disease and delivering food and drinking water to survivors. The American Red Cross reports that emergency assessment and first-aid teams were on the ground quickly and are already working with local groups to support relief efforts. Your financial donation will help provide medicine, clothing, food, and shelter for victims of the East Africa and South Asia earthquake and tsunami disaster. One hundred percent of your donation will go to the American Red Cross. Thanks in advance for your participation during this critical time. The American Red Cross name is used with its permission. For more information about the American Red Cross, please call 1‑800 HELP NOW or e-mail info@usa.redcross.org.

Pat Tillman

According to this article, Pat Tillman was a genuine person, not just your typical professional athlete. Yet some morons out there still would disrespect someone who has died serving their country. How sad.

D'oh!

From Yahoo's! weird news section.
An X-ray showing a 17centimeter (6.7 inches) pair of surgical scissors in the abdomen of 69-year-old Pat Skinner in Sydney, Australia, Tuesday, April 20, 2004. Mrs Skinner had an operation at St.George hospital in Sydney's south in May 2001, but continued to suffer intense pain and it was only when she insisted on an x-ray 18 months later that she discovered the scissors inside.
