Not Fun

Missed work for the last 2 days because of this. Seems like a myth like sickness, but I guess not!!!

UPS lags...

This isn't the first time that UPS has lied about trying to drop off a package at a time when our front office was still open. Shame on you UPS. You could at least just be truthful and say that the driver couldn't make it on time.

Bill Horn and other Greedy Bastards

How do these fools think this is right? It's a HUGE pay increase, in my opinion, but they somehow think it's fair to do this when there have been cutbacks in the budget and layoffs. County Supervisor Bill Horn even claims that "..nobody who got elected took a vow of poverty." I hardly think making six figures in the first place qualifies as "poverty" no matter where you live, you greedy bastard.

OSI Model
Learning about networks is a pain!!! But at least I'm learning something. I'll try to post something when I have time. Probably after I fail the exam on Saturday. LOL.

Netflix Rates Going Up

Boo-urns! As of June 15th, Netflix decided they will be raising their rates from $19.95 to $21.99 a month for the 3 DVD rental plan that I am on (as well as their other plans).
I'll probably still stay with them since I do like the idea of how it works and so far their service hasn't been too bad. Below is the email I received from them regarding the rate changes.
Dear Kent,
We hope you're enjoying the convenience and selection of Netflix. Our goal has always been to offer a great service at a great price, and we're dedicated to bringing you the largest library of films delivered quickly to your home.
Since launching our service almost four years ago, the subscription rate for the 3-at-a-time program has never changed. We've added more than 20 distribution centers in order to provide one business day delivery to most of our members. We've also expanded our library by thousands of titles and now offer more than 18,000 to choose from. During the four years, improvements such as these, as well as postal rate changes, have increased the cost of doing business.
Beginning June 15, 2004, we will be raising the prices of all our subscription programs. Your plan, the Netflix 3-at-a-time program, will change from $19.95 per month to $21.99 per month.
We believe our service offers an exceptional value and hope you'll continue to enjoy the benefits of Netflix at the new price. We realize that you have many home entertainment choices, and we appreciate your business.
Yours Truly,
The Netflix Team

Daylight Saving Time

I hate switching my clocks and dealing with DST, but here's a pretty good site that explains the madness behind it all. Thanks a lot, B.F.!

Cox Premier Package

I thought I'd give this a shot to see how much faster it would be since I play a lot of games online. On paper, the specs seem decent. But after trying it out, the upstream speed isn't enough. If Cox really is serious about offering gamers and heavy internet users better broadband, they need to offer at least 700+ Kbps upstream. So if anyone sees this, I'd recommend looking elsewhere for better bandwidth. I just may look into switching to DSL in the future since Cox doesn't really offer enough, especially for the price.

I hate doing laundry

Almost nothing else is as boring as doing laundry. Can you see the bored guy in the reflection? He's the one taking the picture because he's bored out of his mind! Hurry up and dry already clothes! Oh and another thing about doing laundry, those Downy ball things that you fill up with fabric softener are terrible! They almost never work and end up staining my clothes. I even bought a 2nd generation version, which looked like it would work better than the original, but still doesn't. Oh well, guess I gotta just wait around and pour it in at the right time.

I've been raped...

Is it just me or is paying $2.15 a gallon too damn much for even the cheapest gas? Damn oil companies.
